A Storytelling Wave at Carcavelos: Filipa Leandro at Cascais Boogie Chicks 2025

From 25th to 27th April, Carcavelos Beach came alive with the energy, inspiration, and spirit of the Cascais Boogie Chicks 2025 event, an annual celebration of surf culture, community, and creative expression. Among the highlights of this vibrant weekend was a very special session by Filipa Leandro, whose unique fusion of environmental awareness and storytelling continues to resonate with young audiences.

On the afternoon of her presentation, the Quiksilver store, tucked just metres from the Atlantic, transformed into a haven of imagination, curiosity, and joy. With every seat filled and a standing audience spilling into the aisles, Filipa presented her beloved children’s book series, Come Surf with Pipa, Jaime and Kika, to an eager crowd of young readers and their families.

More than just a reading, the session was a journey. Through vivid narrative and an inviting warmth, Filipa brought to life the adventures of her iconic trio Pipa, Jaime, and Kika infusing each story with gentle lessons on courage, friendship, and the deep connection we share with the ocean. As always, her storytelling was grounded in a purpose that runs through all of her work: to nurture a generation of environmentally conscious, empathetic citizens of the world.

Filipa’s presentations are never passive encounters. They are immersive experiences, where children are not only entertained but also gently guided towards reflection on the waves they ride, the beaches they cherish, and the life beneath the surface that so often goes unnoticed. Her books do more than tell stories; they sow seeds of awareness, responsibility, and care for the natural world.

This memorable afternoon at Cascais Boogie Chicks 2025 once again affirmed Filipa Leandro’s unique voice in contemporary children’s literature, a voice that is as passionate about surfing and adventure as it is about sustainability and mindful living.

We thank all those who joined us at Carcavelos Beach and look forward to more inspiring encounters with Filipa and her stories in the months to come.
