Filipa Leandro, a proud mother of three, is the author of the engaging children’s book collection Come Surf with Pipa, Jaime, and Kika.

As a mum, Filipa is passionate about raising happy, healthy children and instilling good practices and values. Through this series, she shares her love of surfing and her family’s real-life surf adventures, weaving in themes of positivity, resilience, and a healthy lifestyle. The stories encourage children to embrace sports, follow their dreams, appreciate family, and respect the environment, while celebrating culture and traditions from around the world.

Each book in the series is inspired by real events and characters, making it a unique and relatable journey for young readers. Through fun and exciting surf stories, Filipa empowers children by giving them the tools to lead happy, balanced lives. With a deep love for Portugal, her home country, Filipa also takes the opportunity to introduce readers to its rich culture and natural beauty, offering a glimpse into one of the world’s most vibrant surfing communities.

We take immense pride in highlighting that our entire property operates on a foundation of 100% sustainability. Every aspect of our operations reflects our unwavering commitment to the environment:

1. Composting: Instead of relying on plastic-based fertilizers, we’ve been implemented a composting system that enriches the soil naturally. This sustainable approach minimizes waste and nurtures the land in harmony with nature.

2. Water Conservation: Our water source comes directly from a well, ensuring a local and sustainable water supply. Through advanced filtration methods, we provide clean water for drinking, washing, and everyday use. We encourage responsible water consumption, valuing its scarcity and aiming to minimize wastage. Furthermore, our pool is treated with salt, eliminating the need for harsh chemicals while maintaining a sustainable aquatic environment.

3. Solar Power: Embracing the power of renewable energy, our property is equipped with solar panels that power our facilities, reducing our reliance on non-renewable resources.

By integrating these sustainable practices into our property, we strive to harmonize comfort and luxury with a deep respect for the environment. We firmly believe that responsible choices and innovative solutions pave the way for a brighter, greener future.

At Foundation DaST we Design a Sustainable Tomorrow by creating links and value between natural and cultural Landscape, Architectural Heritage, traditional activities and social habits while introducing a sustainable contemporary way of life.

After 50 years of projects developed by Frédéric Coustols, both within theoretical and practical frameworks and tested operationally on an international scale, DaST (Designing a Sustainable Tomorrow) functions as a multidisciplinary compass aimed at fostering robust and sustainable communities. It does so by integrating landscapes, architecture, heritage, and social values, including the promotion of heritage, culture, arts, territorial design, and visitor experiences as drivers for social and community development.

This approach inspired the creation of Foundation DaST, which, with active community involvement, is currently being implemented in the village of Torrão.

Always starting with a holistic inventory of the elements that constitute life, Foundation DaST seeks to restore the resilience of its community by involving it in co-creation, in partnership with academia and institutions, to develop a sustainable model that can be applied to other locations, internationally.

By promoting the conservation of natural and cultural heritage and territorial design as engines of development, Foundation DaST aims to ensure a balance between resource preservation and the creation of a new, sustainable socio-economic paradigm. It adopts a holistic approach that, alongside cultural initiatives, deepens broader objectives for sustainable development.
